JCI UK Success at European Awards 2020

We were immensely proud of our local chambers at the JCI European Awards last month. It was fantastic to see UK chambers winning two awards and finalists for 4 awards!

A huge well done to JCI Manchester’s Ellen Walker for winning Most Outstanding Local President in Europe. During Ellen Walkers leadership in 2019, JCI Manchester had one of its most successful years in a testament to her leadership, organizing 6 social events with over 400 participants, hosting 13 training and development events, 7 charity and wellbeing programs and even hosting the Manchester Young Talent Awards. Additionally, Ellen focused on finding sponsorship and balancing the financials of JCI Manchester to ensure the longevity of the group. She was able to source £9,000 in sponsorship for 2019.

Congratulations to JCI Nottingham for winning Best Local Personal Skills Development Programme for their “Inspiring Action – Developing Leaders” programme, which was also on the shortlist in the overall Best Local Project category. JCI Nottingham opened up training and development events to the community and students through a partnership with Nottingham Trent University that would enhance members’ experience and create opportunities for personal development and ongoing learning. Some of the training sessions include, Goal Setting & Motivation, Developing Your Business Idea: Entrepreneurial Skills, Networking & Personal Brand and Developing Leaders.

An honourable mention to JCI Southampton for also being shortlisted in the Best Local Personal Skills Development Programme category for their “Future Proof Your Career” programme. And another shortlist for JCI Southampton for Local Growth & Development Programme for their #60for60 campaign.

Our JCI UK debaters were also worthy runners up to JCI Scotland in the Unofficial English debating competition, well done to JCI Southampton’s Mike Rothon, JCI London’s Chris Adamson and JCI Cambridge’s Pieter Bruyninckx.
