President's Diary - February 2012

Well I can hardly believe it's nearly the end of February already! I think this has been the best month yet of being President for JCI Portsmouth and I'm only two months in!!!

At the end of January I attended JCI UK Inspiration Day in Birmingham! It is always great to attend national events, as you get to see the wider JCI Community at work! There was a fantastic Keynote Speaker, who was really inspirational. I left with great ideas and tips to improve my own business and JCI Portsmouth, which was brilliant!

It was also amazing for me as a new President to see how warm and welcoming other JCI Members are from around the country! They were so friendly, sharing ideas, tips and just generally being really supportive of me taking on this new and exciting role.

JCI Portsmouth won a bottle of champagne for having the highest percentage of our members attending Inspiration day, which was great and a big thanks has to go to Ian Tomkinson, a truly dedicated member of JCI Portsmouth who attended Inspiration Day on his birthday!!! We all sung Happy Birthday to him, so he didn't feel forgotten about!

As is tradition at JCI, we then had a fantastic night out, with great food and of course lots of wine! I left extremely energised and motivated to make a difference in our local organisation and I would thoroughly recommend any JCI UK National Events to anyone! They really are amazing!

This great kick start to February, led me straight into our first business event in 2012 - Speed Networking! I have already blogged about this event separately, as it is completely worthy of its own entire blog, but needless to say the event was fantastic!

The turnout was great, our new venue was brilliant and the general atmosphere was just electric! The feedback was really positive, with lots of people making new business connections and leads! I had to address the room for the first time as President and promote JCI Portsmouth, which I thankfully survived and I think most of my speech was coherent!

It was great to meet so many young and motivated professionals from the local area and I hope JCI Portsmouth will have gained a few more members as a result.

One thing is for sure, the Speed Networking event went down so well, it will definitely be a permanent event on our JCI Portsmouth calendar for the rest of 2012!

My thanks also have to go to my great team, in particular Paul Thwaite and Ian Tomkinson, for pulling off this great event!

I'm even more excited now about what March has in store for me!

Kindest Regards
Jasmine Blofield
