JUNIOR CHAMBER CELEBRATES 100th BIRTHDAY BY INVESTING IN OTHERS

A local not-for-profit is investing in other voluntary, community and charitable causes by offering up to £500 to help make a positive impact on 100 lives as they celebrate their 100th anniversary.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Sheffield have been raising funds over the last few years to further support Sheffield organisations. The chamber, which has been established in Sheffield for 88 years, currently works in partnership with good causes AGE UK, RSPCA Sheffield and SAFE@LAST, providing development and training opportunities in addition to fundraising initiatives. 

This year, the global organisation celebrates 100 years since the JCI movement was founded internationally and JCI Sheffield have seized this as an opportunity to help other not-for-profit organisations. Mark Smith, 2015 Local President and currently the most outstanding JCI member in the world award winner says: 

"JCI is all about providing development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change. This year, our chamber has really tried to help create a positive impact locally by working closely with different organisations."

"As its our 100th anniversary since the JCI movement started, we have decided to offer local voluntary and community groups or charities the chance to apply to our small grant scheme for £100 or up to £500 in return for them making a positive impact on at least 100 people."

JCI Sheffield is offering two different grants, a gold and a platinum. Groups are required to fill in an application form and for those applying for the platinum grant will be invited to attend a 'Dragons Den' pitch.

Mark continues: 

"We would love to hear from as many organisations as possible, what's more is that you don't have to be a registered charity to apply and its a great opportunity to work together to make an impact and 'to be the change', our theme locally in 2015."

JCI Sheffield has raised several hundred of pounds in recent years for local good causes. JCI Sheffield wants to help local voluntary or community groups to ‘be the CHANGE’ by forming a small grant pot that they can apply to for funding. Applicants do not have to be registered charities.

There are 2 levels of small grant on offer: a) the ‘gold’ grant – for £100; b) the ‘platinum’ grant of £500.

Groups are required to complete a short application form and take into account the funding criteria below.
