Sheffield members share their LEAP experiences

Thank you to JCI Sheffield for this great blog!

For the second year running, JCI Sheffield hosted the JCI UK LEAP "Leadership Exellence in Action Programme".  Over 25 delegates attended the course and we were please to have 3 JCI Sheffield members as delegates this year, Gareth, Helen and Hannah.  This is what they said about it.

What an amazing weekend. I have learnt so much about myself and how I interact with other people. So where did this journey start? it was a warm Friday afternoon and I arrived at the Holiday Inn feeling a little nervous.  We started the day with an ice breaker and before you knew it I had made some super friends. The weekend continued with much work and some fun. After a morning of group exercisers and bonding as a group we were working until late that night on our group presentation which was so successful we won best presentation! I have learnt loads more about JCI and about continuing my active citizenship. I would recommended this to everyone wanting self development and to learn more about the JCI mission.

The LEAP training weekend was really beneficial to me and my business. I not only learnt about a lot about myself and how I work within a team but also how other people work and the best way to communicate with certain personality traits. This has made me revaluate how I communicate with members of my team and if I can support them more effectively with their work to get the best from them.

It was also a great opportunity to meet other UK and worldwide JCI members and learn more about the organisation. All in all a fantastic experience and amazing value for money! A really great weekend.

Leap was a fantastic experience for cementing my knowledge on JCI and learning a lot about myself. I also learnt a lot about working with people in a team and how to communicate effectively with them to ensure you reach the goal. I enjoyed being pushed out of my comfort zone and meeting lots of JCI members from around the world.

I learnt so many new skills in terms of communication and leadership. I feel I would be a better leader now having done the training and look forward to putting thr skills in to practise with the chamber

After being a delegate on the first LEAP training weekend last year, it was a great opportunity to join the training team this year and to be on other side as a facilitator.  Adopting this role helped to consolidate my learning and develop my training experience. I got to lead on an active ice breaker exercise which was fun to see how the delegates approached it and how people worked in teams.  I also got the chance to deliver a couple of workshops and to give feedback after the group work.  I was proud to be involved with this award winning national project and look forward to taking an even more active role next year.
