Earlier this October, JCI London together with the Great Debaters Club ran the second "Mock Boardroom" event. The Mock Boardroom catered for people who wanted to exercise pitching for investment and wished to practice presenting new policies or ideas to a room full of senior decision-makers. The aim was to obtain insights from the people usually on the receiving end of those presentations on what they were doing well and how they could improve. It was also an opportunity for the audience to ask questions to the panel about what to expect and how to prepare for board-level presentations and discussions. "I found the idea of the Mock Boardroom to be exciting and vital for people who are looking to try out their business ideas in front of experienced business professionals who, in return, provide constructive criticism and advice on the aspects of a business pitch that needs improvement", summarises our member Dovile. Two very inspiring ladies presented their pitches in front of business experts. First up Sofia aspired to set up a school to teach youngsters public speaking while Lola's business pitch focused on women empowerment through a series of training and job search projects. The panel was very supportive and shared useful advice on how to improve the sales pitches to secure the investments these ladies were seeking. Overall, the event was very informative to all future entrepreneurs pitching their business proposals, spectators who had a chance to ask questions concerning the issues they face in their line of work as well as the business experts who learned about business ideas that are currently relevant to people.
